As one esteemed games journalist put it, PC gamers are getting tired of spending £30 on a game and then "getting kicked in the face" with draconican DRM. Ubisoft have solved this via the joys of stupidity. Hearing the general rage and outcry over the Starforce copy protection system, Ubisoft have removed it from their upcoming PC releases. It has been replaced with a system that... Ubisoft have solved this via the joys of stupidity. Hearing the general rage and outcry over the Starforce copy protection system, Ubisoft have removed it from their upcoming PC releases. It has been replaced with a system that requires you to be permanently online in order to play. Furthermore, all your saves will be stored remotely, and the game requires constant authentication. If, therefore, you have a tempremental internet connection (because that is just so rare these days), you can kiss your plans to have a nice romantic evening in with the latest Splinter Cell goodbye. On top of this, there are the disturbing and invasive privacy infringements at stake here: there are plenty of people who do not want to let the publisher know their private gaming habits. People who do not wish to report in to a company they’ve no affiliation with, nor accountability to, whenever they play a game they’ve legally bought. People who don’t want their save data stored remotely. This new system renders all customers beholden to Ubisoft in perpetuity whenever they buy their games. Grimeh11:28 - 02 September Currently trying to work out and fix the problem with our coms plugin... there is a problem server side but not sure what that is yet, support is resetting the server or something. .. Will keep you posted
